🧪 Materials:
-
6 clear cups or jars
-
Paper towels (cut into strips)
-
Water
-
Red, yellow, and blue food coloring
👩🔬 Instructions:
-
Line up the 6 cups in a circle or straight line.
-
Fill every other cup with water (cup 1, 3, and 5).
-
Add a few drops of red to cup 1, yellow to cup 3, and blue to cup 5.
-
Place paper towels between each cup, dipping both ends into the water.
👀 What to Look For:
After a few hours, the colors “walk” up the paper towels into the empty cups and mix to make new colors!
🔍 What It Proves:
This shows capillary action — how water moves upward through narrow spaces, like in plant stems. It also introduces color mixing.
